At least there’s the Chicago White Sox now.
For the last few years, the Colorado Rockies have occupied their own sad little spot in the general conversation about teams in Major League Baseball.
They weren’t a contending team. They weren’t a rebuilding team. They were just a confusing team that people liked to laugh at.
If there was a hopeless team, it was the Rockies. Then the 2024 season happened and the White Sox lost 121 games. Now the standard has changed when it comes to the punchline team in baseball.
Even so, the Rockies still feel like a franchise that’s stuck in its bizarre ways and doomed to the bottom of the standings. After all, they just extended their manager on the heels of two 100-loss seasons.
I’m mostly just looking for small signs of hope with the Rockies. I just want to see there’s a path forward and a way out of their status as a joke. That path might actually be there, even if it will take years. And to my pleasant surprise, the source of hope comes from a projection system.
